Leviathan Whispers was the seed that became Rag and Bone – Tim Hill and Dave Young’s first project together that combined outdoor performance, sound, music, myth making, visual imagery, light and fire. Leviathan Whispers’ first event was a collaboration with sound artist Jonathan Coleclough and pyrotechnician Martin West – a three-day event at Braziers Park in South Oxfordshire that combined live performance, installations, workshops and a nocturnal sound garden.
Subsequent projects eventually mutated and led into Pandaemonium – a performance to Summon the Beast of Bracknell Forest – the first Rag and Bone event.
“We are fascinated by the physicality and power of sound, and build Leviathan Horns – giant reed and brass instruments that are also huge listening devices and resonating chambers. The Leviathan Horns can sound out in streets and landscape, be installed in woods and wastelands or form the centre piece of indoor concerts. We imagine our leviathan horns prowling streets, sounding from hilltops and swimming through ancient seas rousing giants and beasts, then sitting still and amplifying the radio of the world.”
