pandaemonium

Pandaemonium is a ‘delerium' for town & city centres and festival arenas . In the show a ‘dreamtime' carnival, lost amid the pandaemonium of the modern world is summoned by giant horns . A provocative and evocative procession appears, with street band and strange devices; including a ‘ranting tower' carrying its rag and bone prophet, and a ‘pandaemonium engine' with musical machines, magic lanterns and fiery wheels.

The show features powerful new music for reeds brass and percussion, strong physical performance and striking visual imagery.

It was premiered at South Hill Park Arts Centre, Bracknell, on July 12th. For the culmination of this first show we conjured up ‘The Beast of Bracknell Forest' - a 20 foot high mythical creature made using recycled materials from Bracknell town dumps and waste disposal depots.

Praise for Pandaemonium:

"Rag and Bone's presentation of a mystical, mythical centrepiece with its emphatic nods to recycling, community pride, taming of the terrible and celebration of the diverse was pitch-perfect. The parade and use of space magnetised the crowd, and formed the bulk of the story-telling, ensuring that the arrival of the beast itself was suitably majestic.Certainly the most well-thought out and original finale for several years.”

Nick Madeira, audience member @ Big Day Out

"The Bracknell Beast was constructed of old bicycles, plastic chairs, golf clubs, car number plates, discarded metal and cooking utensils. The Beast was gifted to Bracknell during an awe-inspiring theatrical performance by Rag and Bone, an exciting and highly charged combination of light, text and pyrotechnics"

William Trevelyan, Organiser, Big Day Out Festival, South Hill Park
